The Tucson Fire Department's technical rescue team found an injured hiker about five miles from the Richard Genser Starr Pass Trailhead in the Tucson Mountain Park trail system around 10:43 a.m., after the hiker became lost and tired and ended up on the far side of the mountain. Separately, the Drexel Heights Fire District said crews reached a hiker experiencing a medical emergency near the Sarasota Trailhead at about 11:05 a.m. and walked the person off the trail; the hiker was treated on scene and not taken to a hospital.

Man, 38, dies in single-vehicle crash on East Benson Highway. The Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release that Kodi Roy Payne veered off the road just after 2 p.m. Sept. 24 in the 3300 block of East Benson Highway, near South Palo Verde Road, and the vehicle came to rest on top of a boulder.
