Two killed, two seriously injured in Oracle Road crash north of Oro Valley. Two people were killed and two others taken to a hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving a sedan and landscaping trucks about 6:15 a.m. Monday. The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the crash happened in the southbound lanes of State Route 77 (Oracle Road) at milepost 85, near Wilds Road. DPS said the sedan "ended up wedged underneath" one of the trucks and its driver was killed. The agency has not released a cause or identified anyone, and the Pima County Sheriff's Department assisted. AAA Landscape said in a Facebook post that one of its employees was killed and two others were hospitalized. The company said its crew was traveling to a job site when "a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction lost control and collided with our vehicle," adding, "There are no words that can adequately express the sorrow we feel." Southbound Oracle Road was closed between Wilds Road and Golder Ranch Drive, with drivers detoured to North Bowman Road and North Lago del Oro Parkway, KOLD reported. Under the plan, its sixth- through eighth-graders would move about five miles to Santa Rita High School, 3951 S. Pantano Rd., starting in the 2028-29 school year. They would attend a separate "secondary academy" with its own building, classes, lunch periods and bell schedule. KOLD reported this is the district's sixth proposed closure; as we reported Saturday, Collier Elementary was the fifth.
