TUSD parents petition against closures as superintendent says cuts won't stop there. Parents at Collier and Cragin elementary schools have launched online petitions asking the TUSD Governing Board not to close their schools, KVOA reported, and Collier families held a community-led meeting at the school Thursday. Collier, which district leaders call TUSD's smallest school, would merge with Bloom Elementary. As we reported this week, the district has proposed closing 10 schools, seven of which have been announced. Superintendent Gabriel Trujillo told KGUN the closures would save about $3.5 million against a deficit of roughly $14 million, meaning other cuts are coming, and he addressed parents' questions in a 45-minute interview with KOLD.
