What the office does

The county school superintendent is the link between the state and the county's school districts: distributing the laws, reports, instructions and forms the office receives for school officers, recording its official acts, and reporting to the state. The superintendent appoints members to fill vacancies on school district governing boards, contracts with the Board of Supervisors to conduct regular school district elections, maintains teacher and administrator certification records, and may review a district's operations and finances.
