What the office does
The clerk is the city's record keeper: custodian of the corporate seal and of all city books, papers, records and archives. The clerk attends every meeting of the mayor and council and keeps the record of its proceedings, keeps separate indexed books of all ordinances, resolutions, contracts and official bonds, open to public inspection, and attests every ordinance the mayor signs.
The clerk is appointed by the mayor and council to a two-year term and is not supervised by the city manager.
