Judge strikes down rule requiring counties to aid voters at wrong polling place. A Maricopa County Superior Court judge ruled Friday that Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes cannot force counties to allow out-of-precinct voters to cast valid ballots via accessible voting devices. The ruling, affecting all precinct-based counties — including Pinal County, which had been at the center of the dispute — found that the 2023 policy usurped county authority and could burden disabled voters; Fontes's office called the decision "disappointing" and said it is reviewing next steps ahead of the 2026 election season.

Arizona ranks 49th in the nation for per-pupil school funding. The National Education Association's annual report places Arizona one spot from the bottom nationally, spending roughly $11,723 per K-12 student during 2024-25; the state would need to increase school funding by approximately 50% just to reach the national average. The report comes as Arizona continues to expand its school voucher program, which critics argue has diverted funds from public education.
