Man fatally shot on Tucson's southside near South Sixth Avenue and I-10. A 41-year-old man was shot and killed around 2 a.m. Friday near South Sixth Avenue and West 44th Street following what investigators believe was a fight with an unknown person. Tucson Police Department is investigating; no suspect has been announced.

Tucson man arrested on sexual assault charges spanning more than 35 years. Oneal Lamar Christopher, 48, has been arrested in connection with sexual assault allegations covering a period of more than three decades, according to KOLD News 13. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Sahuarita man arrested after toddler left alone in hot vehicle. Sahuarita police arrested a man Wednesday after a 2-year-old boy was left unattended in a vehicle for nearly 30 minutes while the man went grocery shopping at Walmart, according to the Green Valley News.
Tucson Fire Department report flags staffing and response-time challenges. The department's newly released 2025 Annual Report shows staffing shortfalls and response-time pressures even as overall call volume declined. Deputy Chief Sharon McDonough described the report as a snapshot of the department's current state and future needs.
Air conditioning restored at Pima County Jail following repairs. Cooling system repairs have been completed at the Pima County Jail, restoring air conditioning to the facility after an outage during a period of extreme heat, according to KVOA and KOLD News 13.

Pima County approves $2.2 million in opioid settlement funds to extend sobering center. The Pima County Board of Supervisors approved the funding to continue operating a sobering center where patients can stay up to 96 hours and are permitted to bring pets and personal belongings.
Pima County commits $170,000 to extend GED program at jail for one year. The Board of Supervisors approved the funding to continue education classes at the jail after the sheriff's department ended its previous contract for the program.
Arizona woman sentenced to probation for ESA fraud. A woman who pleaded guilty to improperly receiving nearly $30,000 through Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship Account program has been sentenced to three years of probation and 100 hours of community service, according to KVOA.
UA campus hit-and-run suspect faces court status conference Monday. A status conference for Louis John Artal, who is awaiting trial in a deadly hit-and-run near the University of Arizona campus, is scheduled for Monday, according to KVOA.

Astrie luxury apartments open at former Foothills Mall site in northwest Tucson. The Astrie luxury apartments have officially opened as the first phase of the Uptown redevelopment project at the former Foothills Mall, with the first residents moving in, according to KVOA and KOLD News 13.
$16 million upgrade underway for military housing at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. A $16 million reinvestment is modernizing more than 1,100 military family homes at Davis-Monthan through Soaring Heights Communities, benefiting approximately 3,500 residents.
22nd Street bridge teardown underway; replacement due by 2029. RTA crews have begun demolishing the old 22nd Street bridge, with the first new footings expected to be poured by the end of July. The replacement bridge is scheduled for completion by 2029.
Second data center rezoning application submitted in Marana. A second application to rezone land for a data center has been submitted in Marana, separate from a Beale Infrastructure-run facility already approved by the town council, according to KOLD News 13.
Oro Valley water rate hike takes effect July 4. Base water rates for most Oro Valley customers will increase 3.6% beginning on the Fourth of July, according to Inside Tucson Business.

Southwest winds of 15–25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, combined with relative humidity of 10–15%, create conditions under which any fires that develop or are ongoing will have the potential to spread rapidly.

Tonight: Mostly clear, low around 74°F. South-southeast winds 5–17 mph, gusts to 30 mph.
