Midtown apartment fire kills one person and dog. A resident and their dog were killed when fire tore through a first-floor apartment unit near Oracle Road and Blacklidge Drive early Tuesday morning, according to the Tucson Fire Department. Three additional residents were displaced.

Woman found dead near Sabino Canyon's Bear Canyon Trail. A 66-year-old woman was found dead Tuesday morning near the Bear Canyon Trail in Sabino Canyon, according to authorities. No further details on the cause of death were immediately available.
Tucson Fire Department increases staffing, prepares A Mountain for holiday weekend. With fires sparking across Pima County ahead of the Fourth of July weekend, Tucson Fire has ramped up staffing and is taking additional precautions at A Mountain, according to KGUN 9. Sun Tran averts strike; union vote on new proposal set for July 11–12. Sun Tran buses continued running on their normal schedule Wednesday after negotiations ended without a deal when the contract for more than 400 employees expired June 30. The transit agency's latest offer will be presented to the union on July 11 and 12. Arizona governor vetoes bill that would have weakened citizen referendums. Gov.
