⚠️ Extreme Heat Watch in effect from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening (July 8, 8 PM MST). NWS Tucson warns of dangerously hot conditions with temperatures of 107–111°F across the Tucson metro area, Western Pima County, Tohono O'odham Nation, and surrounding regions. Heat-related illness risk increases significantly during these events; residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Outlook: Temperatures climb to near 110°F Tuesday and Wednesday, with a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms Wednesday (20%). The pattern offers little relief until monsoon moisture increases later next week.

Fatal crash on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base kills 20-year-old woman. A 20-year-old woman died early Saturday morning after being partially ejected from her vehicle during a rollover crash on the 8700 block of East Yuma Street inside Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. A second occupant, a teenager, sustained minor injuries. The incident is under investigation.

Two people killed in I-10 crash near Vail. A Friday night collision on Interstate 10 near Vail killed two people and shut down all eastbound lanes for several hours overnight. No additional details on the cause have been released.

Venezuelan woman released after 9 months of wrongful ICE detention in Arizona. A Venezuelan woman held in ICE custody in Arizona for nine months was released after being found to have been wrongfully detained, according to the Arizona Daily Star. The case comes as the U.S. District Court in Arizona implemented policy changes in June aimed at reducing delays in releasing detained immigrants, citing soaring caseloads for immigration judges.

Three arrested after security guard hospitalized in midtown assault. Three men were arrested after Tucson Police say a security guard was attacked while patrolling a midtown gas station. The guard was hospitalized; the incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 3, according to KVOA.

Missing Tucson man found safe. Tucson Police had issued a search for a missing and vulnerable 22-year-old man near Campbell Avenue on July 4; he was subsequently located, according to KOLD.

Sahuarita launches FAQ ahead of July 21 general plan vote amid data center concerns. Sahuarita town staff released a frequently-asked-questions document Saturday about the 2026 General Plan ahead of the Proposition 420 vote scheduled for July 21, according to the Green Valley News. The move comes amid growing resident confusion about whether the plan could facilitate data center development in the town.

The City of Tucson's annual Fourth of July fireworks display at "A" Mountain drew thousands of spectators Saturday night in what officials have confirmed is its final edition.
